Femoral Nerve Palsy due to Anticoagulant Induced Retroperitoneal Hematoma

چکیده
A forty-one-year-old man who, sought evaluation for a sudden hip flexion contracture and groin pain with a history of mechanical mitral valve replacement, had been misdiagnosed and treated as having lumbar discopathy for two days. This patient finally was diagnosed with compressive femoral neuropathy due to warfarin-induced retroperitoneal hematoma and successfully managed nonoperatively. This case is reported in order to draw attention to this rare presentation.

Compressive Femoral Neuropathy Associated with Iliopsoas Hematoma Complicating Hip Hemiarthroplasty: A Case Report
Introduction Femoral nerve compression caused by iliopsoas hematoma is a rare complication after hip surgery. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case after hemiarthroplasty. In this case, iliacus hematoma resulted from spontaneous bleeding favored by anticoagulant therapy. Case Report A 78-year-old female developed left groin pain associated with typical symptoms of femoral nerve...
متن کاملDelayed iliacus compartment syndrome following femoral artery puncture: case report and literature review
Iliacus compartment syndrome is a rare retroperitoneal compartment neuropathy caused by bleeding within the iliacus muscle leading to hematoma formation and compression upon the femoral nerve, causing both sensory and motor deficits. A 75-year-old Caucasian man presented with severe right hip pain associated with motor and sensory deficit in the right lower extremity, 2 weeks post elective ball...
متن کاملDelayed Femoral Nerve Palsy Associated with Iliopsoas Hematoma after Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty
Femoral nerve neuropathy after total hip arthroplasty is rare but catastrophic complication. Pain and quadriceps muscle weakness caused by this complication can significantly affect the functional outcome. Here we present a case report, describing delayed onset femoral nerve palsy associated with iliopsoas hematoma following pseudoaneurysm of a branch of profunda femoris artery after 3 months o...

A man developed signs of femoral and obturator neuropathy due to spontaneous retroperitoneal hemorrhage while taking anticoagulant drugs for suspected thrombophlebitis. The hemorrhage was demonstrated by CT scan, CT scans should be used in all patients developing signs of peripheral nerve entrapment during anticoagulant therapy. Neuropathy Retroperitoneal hemorrhage Computed tomography
متن کاملRetroperitoneal hematoma associated with femoral neuropathy: a complication under antiplatelets therapy.
We report a case of retroperitoneal hematoma presenting as femoral nerve pulsy on antiplatelet therapy. The patient, a 78-year-old man who had undergone antiplatelet treatment using ticlopidine, was admitted to our hospital with complaints of sudden-onset low abdominal and back pain. Computed tomography showed an iso-density mass in the right retroperitoneum within the psoas muscle. We made a d...
